A native of Colorado, Alex grew up hiking, backpacking, skiing, and kayaking in the mountains and rivers of the Rockies, where he developed a deep love and respect for his natural surroundings. In the Spring of 2012 Alex first came to the Skykomish Valley in search of the big, clean rivers and the rumors of year round whitewater to play on. It didn't take long for him to realize how incredible his new home was, with it's thick forests to wander, awe inspiring summits to stand upon, and most importantly (for Alex at least) the humbling power of the rivers that make up the Skykomish Drainage as they descend from the pristine water of the high alpine lakes that are scattered throughout the peaks of the Central Cascades. After years living a nomadic lifestyle, chasing rivers around the world, Alex now happily lives in Index WA year round reveling in all that the Skykomish Valley has to offer as it cycles through the 4 seasons.
Growing up in Alaska and Idaho he found a love for the outdoors. whether it be hiking, hunting, fishing,or playing on any sort of flotation device. Learning to read rivers in a jet boat originally going up and down river catching Sturgeon bigger than himself at times on the Snake and Salmon Rivers in Idaho. He then switched gears and starting playing in rafts and kayaks, doing his first solo gear boat trip down the main salmon at a ripe age of 14. After years of playing on Idaho's great rivers and tributaries Fly Fishing and realizing the beauty in smaller tributaries catching smaller trout every cast vs going for the big one and maybe catching one all day if your lucky. After guiding Fly fishing tours in Alaska, Idaho, Belize, Oregon, and Washington, working with countless legends in the industry and learning more techniques from several former Olympic Fly Fisherman. Now 16 years later you can find him In the Skykomish River Valley Playing in the biggest un-dammed drainage flowing into the Pacific Ocean. Thus allowing countless mountain lakes and streams of healthy fish habitat to keep him happy for many years to come.
